Hearthstone World Championship Top 8 and Exhibition Matches

It’s time to crown a champion! The grand conclusion to the Hearthstone World Championship is finally upon us!

The long road to the World Championship is reaching its exhilarating climax and a new Hearthstone World Champion will soon be crowned! Sixteen of the best Hearthstone players in the world travelled to Southern California to prove themselves and earn a place on the big stage at BlizzCon.

Eight players now remain, representing the Americas, Europe, China, and the Asia-Pacific regions, and will battle it out for their share of the $250,000 prize pool. The ultimate prize of $100,000 and title as 2015 Hearthstone World Champion goes to the eventual victor. Catch all of the action beginning with the Hearthstone Championship Preshow on Friday, November 6 at 20:45 CET.

These final eight players emerged victoriously through last week’s nerve-wracking elimination group stage to earn a spot in the BlizzCon playoff bracket. This single elimination bracket is the final hurdle to overcome in their quest to be this year’s Hearthstone World Champion.

Exhibitions

As a special treat, there will be not just one, but TWO exhibition series played at BlizzCon to give you a breather between the intense matches you are sure to witness. Both exhibitions will be played on Friday, November 6 and can be viewed on Twitch.

Poker Pros Exhibition

The first exhibition match brings two current poker professionals to the inn: Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier faces off against Daniel “Kid Poker” Negreanu to determine who is better at translating ”poker face” to “going face”.

ElkY is no novice to the competitive gaming scene. As a former professional StarCraft player turned poker pro, ElkY earned the coveted poker Triple Crown: European Poker Tour, World Series of Poker, and World Poker Tour titles. He enjoys causing souls to suffer with his golden Warlock.

Poker Hall-of-Famer Daniel Negreanu is poker’s all-time leading tournament money winner, two-time World Series of Poker Player of the Year, and World Poker Tour Player of the Year. Daniel prefers to tear his opponents apart with magic using his golden Mage.

Both ElkY and Daniel are no strangers to the Hearthstone inn, and they anxiously await putting their skills to the test with BlizzCon’s live and virtual audience cheering them on. This is one match you won’t want to miss!

Challengestone Exhibition

Our second exhibition series features a very special BlizzCon edition of Challengestone! Challengestone will test each competitor’s prowess as they adhere to the tournament’s unique deck-building rules. Each player will be given a limited amount of time to prepare their decks based off of the rules in effect and compete to see who emerges as the best deck-builder in the tavern!
