We've received some questions as to why two of the matches in the Hearthstone Asia Pacific Championships were restarted on October 1, Taipei time and we would like to take this chance to explain to the community. We definitely don't take restarts lightly, but believe they were required in this case to maintain a fair environment for the competition.
On Friday October 1, the Hearthstone group matches were conducted off stage prior to the official opening of the APAC Championship. During the first match between Taesong and Neilyo, there was a TV monitor displaying the live stream of the match, and at the start of the match when the players were picking their starting hand, Taesong raised his hand and told the referee that the TV monitor had not been turned off. The referee decided to end the match and re-start to ensure the integrity of the match, after turning off the monitor. Both players then logged out of the game after the 2nd hand for the re-start. The monitor was left on inadvertently and we apologize for the oversight. We will take appropriate steps to ensure that this does not happen again.
And later in the day, during the first match between Kno and Chilly, Kno raised the issue that he experienced technical issues during the match. The referee and onsite technician checked his computer and confirmed there was a client issue. The referee decided to null the match result and re-start.
All matches yesterday were completed successfully, and we look forward to the finals today.
